Functions

Job duties: – Design and development of surgical instruments and implantable medical devices: single-piece products and assembled products composed of highly complex and precise moving parts. – Design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA). – Determination of the ideal production processes for each type of product. – Mechanical calculations associated with the product. – Rapid prototyping. – Verification and validation tests. Solving the critical engineering challenges necessary to successfully manufacture, test and validate Abanza medical devices. – Generation of drawings and technical documentation necessary for the correct manufacture of the same. – Industrialisation of the products developed and validated. – Determination of the critical quality parameters to be controlled during the production process. – Validation and optimisation of production together with the Production department. – Technological surveillance and market analysis.

Requirements

Degree in mechanical engineering or similar. Demonstrable previous experience in mechanical design on a freelance basis. Experience of more than 5 years in the area of mechanical design with precision moving parts is an advantage. High knowledge of SolidWorks and finite element simulation. Knowledge of design and manufacturing of precision parts and assemblies. High level of English: all documentation generated will be worked on in this language. Knowledge of risk management: FMEA or similar. Ability to plan and organise, as well as to analyse and develop mechanical systems. Extensive knowledge of different manufacturing methods: machining, lathe, 3D printing, injection moulding, assembled assemblies…

Training

Degree in mechanical engineering or similar.

Languages

High level of English: all documentation generated will be worked on in English.

Experience

Demonstrable previous experience in mechanical design on a freelance basis. Experience of more than 5 years in the area of mechanical design with precision moving parts is desirable.
