Navarra advances community energy development with a new specific registry

28 de August de 2024

Navarra
is promoting the creation and development of energy communities through the
implementation of a specific registry. This initiative aims to tailor aid and
subsidies to the actual situation of these communities, optimizing their impact
on the region’s energy transition.

The registry, established under Order Foral
64/2022, is a step towards the structured regulation and support of energy
communities in Navarra. It is expected to facilitate the adaptation of policies
and the allocation of resources, ensuring that local renewable energy
initiatives are aligned with specific community needs and broader
sustainability and energy decentralization goals.

In addition to the registry, the regional
government has organized the third European Congress on Energy Communities,
providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and best practices. Support
offices like VIKENA have also been introduced, offering advice and technical
assistance to facilitate the formation and development of these communities.

With these measures, Navarra is not only
strengthening its energy infrastructure but also promoting active citizen
participation in the energy transition, setting a benchmark for other regions
in Spain and Europe.
