Navarrese students design inclusive board games to foster computational thinking

28 de May de 2025

The STREAM-AI educational network
spearheads an innovative project where students from various Navarrese
institutions create adapted board games, promoting inclusion and the
development of computational thinking from early educational stages.

Within the STREAM-AI network, comprising 59 educational centers in Navarra, a
pioneering initiative has been developed that merges inclusion with educational
technology. Students from Vocational Training and Special Education have
collaborated in designing and manufacturing inclusive board games aimed at
enhancing computational thinking skills such as problem decomposition, pattern
recognition, and algorithm creation.

The project, coordinated by the
Computational Thinking area of ikasNOVA, involved participation from centers
like CIP Virgen del Camino, CIFP Escuela de Educadoras y Educadores, CIP FP
Sakana, and the School of Art and Higher Design of Pamplona, among others. The
games have been adapted to cater to various special educational needs,
including visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor disabilities, as well as
autism spectrum disorders.

This initiative not only promotes inclusion
within the educational sphere but also equips students to tackle the challenges
of an ever-evolving digital world by developing key competencies from early
educational stages.
