New Boost to Sport in Navarre: Construction of a Softball Field at the UPNA

24 de January de 2024

The Navarre Institute of Sport and Physical Activity (INDAF) has
announced a significant investment of 850,000 euros for the construction of a
new softball field at the Public University of Navarre (UPNA). This project
responds to the growing demand for this sport in Navarra and is part of the
existing agreement between INDAF and the UPNA. The new facility will not only
benefit the university centre, but will also be available to Navarre’s
federations and clubs, significantly improving the region’s sports infrastructure.

During a recent visit, the Regional Minister of Culture, Sport and
Tourism, Rebeca Esnaola, accompanied by authorities such as the managing
director of INDAF, Jorge Aguirre, and the vice-rector of the UPNA, Begoña
Pérez, were able to see the land destined for the future pitch. It will have
4,700 square metres in the shape of a quarter of a circumference, suitable for
hosting sporting events of different levels, including international
competitions such as the European Women’s Championship. In addition, the new
space will reinforce the educational activities related to the Degree in
Physical Activity and Sport Sciences offered by the UPNA. The awarding of the
project to the company CM10 marks a step forward in the strengthening of
sporting and educational opportunities in Navarra.
