The Government declares two business projects with an investment of over 100 million euros, which will create around 400 jobs in rural areas, to be of foral interest

12 de April de 2023

The Government of Navarre has agreed to declare the business projects of Aoiz Technics and Nordex Electrolyzers, in Barásoain, to be of foral interest. The investment in both projects totals 107.23 million euros, generating 465 jobs in rural areas.

In both cases, the declaration of regional interest halves the administrative procedures with a preferential and urgent boost to speed up the installation and start-up process.

In the case of Aoiz Technics, a project of the Flamasats group, the Executive takes into account the group’s investment of 38 million and the creation of between 175-250 jobs, in the first phase. This is a project with a low environmental impact, dedicated to the manufacture of refillable lighters.

The second project, led by Nordex’s Spanish division, Nordex Energy Spain S.A.U., a company specialising in the manufacture of wind turbines, proposes for Barásoain to diversify its activity in renewables and enter the new energy vector of green hydrogen. To this end, it is working on the development of an electrolyser, a device that breaks down the hydrogen molecules in water for energy use. This project will consist of an initial product R&D phase and a second phase of industrialisation and market launch of the electrolyser. To this end, Nordex will lead the majority of the 69.23-million-euro investment with a forecast of generating 190 direct jobs by 2028.

The Department of Economic and Business Development appreciates the diversification and positioning of Navarre in the field of green hydrogen, the increase in value of the company, the correspondence of the project’s objectives with the S4, as well as the attraction of talent and the generation of employment in the Central Zone of the region.
