The number of foreign tourists grows by 175% in Navarre

At the presentation of Navarre’s participation in Fitur, the regional minister Mikel Irujo highlighted the data from the tourism sector, which confirms a significant improvement compared to 2021.

The number of travellers in Navarre’s regulated tourist accommodation increased by 54% compared to 2021. In terms of overnight stays, in the year as a whole up to the month of November, the number of tourists reached 3,501,298, exceeding the figures for 2021 by 34%. In addition, hotel accommodation increased by 41% compared to the same period in 2021 (January-November). Finally, it should be noted that other accommodation such as campsites, flats, rural tourism and hostels are also above the volume of pre-pandemic travellers.

Irujo highlighted the significant increase in the number of international tourists. An increase of around +175.5% was recorded compared to 2021. Of particular note is the progressive deseasonalisation of foreign tourism. Tourism that increasingly demands sustainable tourism, as more than half of world tourism is willing to pay more as long as the destination is more sustainable.
