Yesterday, Tuesday 23 November, more than 200 people gathered at the Teatro Gaztambide (Tudela) to celebrate the presentation of the VI Premios Alimenta Navarra, an awards ceremony organised by Navarra Capital and promoted together with NAGRIFOOD (Navarra’s Agri-Food Cluster). At the 6th edition of the awards, attendees paid tribute to the winners in the different categories: Juanma Garro (Lacturale), for Outstanding Business Career and Personal Development; Harivenasa, Sustainability; Nucaps, Innovation; Pagos de Araiz, Internationalisation; and Silvia Lázaro (Granja El Moro), Generational Handover in the Rural World.
This last award is a brand-new category included in the sixth edition of the awards, which seeks to highlight those who will play a fundamental role in the future of this sector, so that that farming in Navarra remains synonymous with prosperity. It was presented to Silvia Lázaro, from Figarol, and the other nominees were Gonzalo Visus, from Murillo el Fruto; Itxaso Iriarte, from Briarean; and Cristian Martínez, from Tudel, for taking over their family businesses, ensuring the continuity of companies in this sector.
This was expressed by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mr. Luis Planas, during the presentation of these awards, who stressed that “the productivity of agricultural enterprises in Navarre is far higher than in the rest of Spain” and called for more young people and women to enter the sector: “They are destined to drive the process towards sustainable food systems in which we are currently immersed.”
